Cuttack, July 18: Minutes after the announcement of strict timings, Ravenshaw University has officially withdrawn its earlier directive that restricted female faculty, staff, and students from remaining on campus after 5:30 PM.

The decision comes amid growing criticism and calls for more inclusive safety measures.

The university had initially imposed the restriction as a temporary safety protocol following the tragic self-immolation of a student in Balasore.

However, the move sparked widespread debate over gendered curfews and the need for structural reforms rather than time-based bans.

University officials stated that the order will no longer be enforceable and that a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is being drafted to address campus safety comprehensively.
