Puri, Feb 14: The initiation ceremony for chariot construction or the ‘Ratha Katha Anukula’ for Lord Jagannath’s rath yatra in Odisha’s Puri, on the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja or Basant Panchami on Wednesday.

The first phase of timber for the construction of the three chariots reached the pilgrim town on February 9.

The timber logs will be worshipped with prescribed rituals on the Saraswati Puja day and subsequently, the process of chariot construction will begin.

As per the tradition, three pieces of Dhaura wood logs will be placed at the Chariot yard (Ratha Khala) on Vasanta Panchami day for worship.
