Puri, Jun 30: In a divine and eco-conscious move, the sacred Mahaprasad will be offered to Lord Jagannath from Monday. The Mahaprasad will be prepared using organic rice during the ongoing nine-day spiritual observance.
This change coincides with the fourth day of the special Adapa Mandap rituals that have drawn thousands of devotees to Puri.
For the next five days, organic rice — referred to as Amruta Anna (divine food) — will be used exclusively to prepare the Koṭha Bhoga, the first and most sacred offering made to the deities.
On the first day, around 80 quintals of organic rice are used, with an additional 21 quintals is being cooked for distribution among devotees.
