Puri, Jun 19: With the world-famous Rath Yatra scheduled for June 27, the Odisha government has intensified its efforts to ensure a smooth and disciplined celebration.
A high-level ministerial committee, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, visited Puri to review the ongoing preparations.
The committee includes key ministers from Urban Development, Health, and Transport, along with the Principal Secretary of the Law Department. During their visit, the team inspected the construction progress of the three chariots — Nandighosa, Taladhwaja, and Darpadalana.
The delegation also walked from the Shree Jagannath Temple office to the Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) to assess crowd management, sanitation, and infrastructure readiness.
Later, a detailed review meeting was held with officials from the district administration, police, and temple management to coordinate logistics, security, and emergency services.
Deputy CM Parida expressed confidence that this year’s Rath Yatra will be well-organized and spiritually enriching, noting that chariot construction is progressing ahead of schedule.
She emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination to ensure the safety and comfort of millions of devotees expected to attend.
Senior officials present included the Urban Development Minister, Health Minister, Transport Minister, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri Collector, SP, Additional DGP, Central Range IG, and other administrative heads.
The Rath Yatra, one of India’s most revered festivals, marks the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple. The state government is leaving no stone unturned to uphold the sanctity and grandeur of this sacred event.
