Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: Police inaction in the Range Rover accident at Power House Chhak here in which a girl died and her brother (cousin) is struggling for life, has been decried by many.

Rumour has it that the expensive vehicle that caused the accident belonged to Vishal Das, the brother of Jharsuguda MLA Deepali Das and son of former Minister Naba Kishore Das.

As the Commissionerate police has not taken any action after a week of the incident, it is suspected that Vishal was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

"Why are the police not checking the CCTV? Why willn't Vishal be included in the course of the investigation? Is the Commissionerate police trying to save him, " asked many.

They also wanted to know why the police initially gave the wrong vehicle number in the report and Later said it was a mistake.

"Is there any pressure on the police to be protective? Why is Vishal not coming to the fore after the accident," many others asked.

According to the latest reports, Lopamudra Sahu of Khardasahi under Jajpur district's Bari block and her cousin Krushnachandra Naik, a retired CISF Jawan, were injured in the accident. while Lopamudra succumbed to the injuries two days back, Krushnachandra is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The vehicle owner has not come forward to provide support either to the deceased's family or to the injured.

Lopamudra's family has raised questions about the impartiality of the police investigation.
