Puri, Apr 6: Darshan of the Trinity- Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra- in Shreemandir will remain suspended for five hours because of special Ram Navami rituals today.


Special pujas are held in the Shreemandir on Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Ram. Lord Ram is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is believed to bear the form of Lord Jagannath in the Neelachal Dham- Shreekhetra in Puri.


According to the rituals, Lord Jagannath takes the form of a mother and gives birth to a child, Ram. To lessen labour pain, Jeuda Bhog and a medicine, 'Garvaudak' was offered to the Lord on Astami Tithi yesterday.

On completion of midday rituals, the birth ritual will be held in the evening hours on Navami Tithi today.


There has been a tradition that woods are cut to different sizes for Rath making today. For this, a team of servitors carrying Anjamal and Mahaprasad will go to a saw-mill in Cuttack where wood logs will be cut.
