Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Sujeet Kumar filed two sets of nomination papers for the by-election to the lone Rajya Sabha seat of Odisha, scheduled for December 20.
As many as 30 proposers signed Kumar's nomination papers.
Sujit Kumar submitted the papers in the presence of BJP state president Manmohan Samal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and party MLAs.
Based on its parliamentary board decision, the BJP had, earlier in the day, named Sujeet Kumar as its Rajya Sabha candidate for Odisha.

✨Notably, only one seat has been lying vacant in Odisha since Sujeet Kumar resigned as BJD Member of the Upper House on September 6.
According to the notification issued by the Election Commission of India, December 10 is the last date for the filing of nomination and the day after is the last day for scrutiny. December 13 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature.
Sujit Kumar is likely to win the seat as BJP has adequate numbers of MLAs in the State Assembly.
