Udala, Apr 21: Mayurbhanj district witnessed a tragic incident on Tuesday morning when the body of a youth was found hanging from a tree in Kochiladiha Kaifulia village under Udala police limits.

The deceased, identified as Raghubir Gujar from Rajasthan, had married a local woman from Udala and had been living with her in the village for over five years.

Villagers discovered his body hanging from a tree near a pond and immediately informed the police. Udala police reached the spot, seized the body, and began investigation.

While the cause of death remains unclear, police are probing whether it was a case of suicide or foul play.

According to our sources, family members are being questioned, and officials have stated that the circumstances surrounding the incident have raised suspicion. A clearer picture is expected to emerge after investigation.

Drama over Love Affair

In another incident, a dramatic incident unfolded in Angul district involving a minor boy who attempted suicide over a love affair.

The boy, housed at Utkal Balashram in Amalapada after being rescued along with his girlfriend by railway police, climbed a 100-foot tall tree on Tuesday morning. He threatened to hang himself with a scarf unless he was allowed to meet his girlfriend, who had been placed in a counselling centre.

The minor remained atop the tree for nearly one and a half hours, creating panic among locals. Police, fire services, and Angul municipality officials rushed to the spot.

After much persuasion and assurances that he would be allowed to see his girlfriend, the boy finally climbed down safely. The incident has sparked widespread discussion in the locality.
