Rairangpur, Jul 2: A suspected case of illegal cow transportation led to a tragic road accident early this morning near Padia Chhak under Badampahad police limits in Rairangpur.
A pickup van allegedly involved in cow smuggling collided with a Bolero carrying wedding guests, resulting in the death of two cattle and serious injuries to six individuals.
According to police sources, the pickup van was transporting cattle illegally when it crashed into the Bolero returning from a wedding in Kusumi block’s Badamkuradi village.
The impact left several passengers injured, including Sailendra Mahanta, Sagun Patra, Kalicharan Mahanta, Sumanta Kumar, and Chhatis Tiria. The driver, who sustained critical injuries, was referred to PRM Medical College in Baripada.

✨The Badampahad police have seized both vehicles involved in the accident. However, the alleged smugglers managed to flee the scene before Police arrived. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
