Rain May Dampen Dussehra Festivity In Odisha This Year

Bhubaneswar, Sept 29: Dussehra festivities y is likely to be dampened in Odisha with the India Meteorological Department predicting another low-pressure in the Bay of Bengal on October 6. The low pressure will trigger rainfall from October 4. 

The low pressure will be formed in the west-central Bay of Bengal and the adjacent areas by October 6 and, by its impact, rainfall will occur across Odisha, according to the IMD forecast. 

The IMD, however, said there is no possibility of a heavy spell of rain in any part of the State in the next five days, i.e. till October 3. Light to moderate rainfall may occur at some places in the next five days and the quantum of rainfall will increase from October 4, said the IMD.

Regarding rainfall, the IMD said Odisha has received 1090.8 mm rainfall from June 1 till now. The State has recorded a 5 percent deficit rainfall, while it should have recorded 1153.3 mm rainfall so far. While two districts have received more than normal rainfall, 24 districts have received normal, and the rest four below normal rainfall. 

In the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall occurred at some places with Sheragarh in Ganjam recording the day's highest of 41 mm rain, according to the IMD.
