Bhubaneswar, Jun 7: Odisha has witnessed varied weather patterns over the past 24 hours, with some districts experiencing light to moderate rainfall while others battling intense heat.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, led by Director Dr Manorama Mohanty, reported substantial rainfall across the state, highlighting three districts — Gajapati, Puri, and Bhadrak — that recorded heavy showers.
Among these, Gajapati saw the highest rainfall, measuring 82 millimetres, marking it as the wettest zone in the state. Meanwhile, Sambalpur emerged as Odisha’s hottest district, registering a scorching 39.8°C, indicating an ongoing heatwave.
Looking ahead, meteorologists predict thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in several districts over the next seven days. Additionally, coastal regions are expected to face extreme heat for the next three days, making conditions unbearable for residents.
Authorities have urged people to take necessary precautions, advising against direct sun exposure during peak hours and staying hydrated to combat rising temperatures.
