Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: The Puri Jagannath Temple Administration is set to introduce a queue-based darshan system in the 12th the century shrine by September 15, informed Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Friday.

The Minister stated that within a week of the hundi relocation, the queue system will be initiated. The committee is expected to begin work within 4 to 5 days of its first meeting. Once implemented, devotees will be able to have darshan of the holy trinity in an orderly and secure manner, eliminating the chaotic crowding near the temple’s wooden barricades.

The post-darshan exit process will also be streamlined to ensure smooth movement, he added.

In addition to the darshan reforms, the temple administration is planning to introduce a rate chart for the sale of Mahaprasad, ensuring transparency and fairness. Discussions are underway regarding the appointment of Suaras (temple cooks) to support this initiative, sources said.
