Odisha Tourism / Puri To Become Coastal Tourism Hub With New Cruise Terminal

25: A cruise
terminal is set to be established in Puri, offering tourists the opportunity to
enjoy luxurious water journeys. Private cruise ships will operate from Puri to
destinations such as Paradip, Digha, Visakhapatnam, and the Andaman &
Nicobar Islands. During the upcoming Marine Time Week from May 27 to 31, a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between Paradip Port and the
Odisha government. Earlier, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had
discussed the project with Union Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
This initiative marks a new chapter in Odisha’s tourism sector. The sea tourism terminal in Puri will provide passengers with a unique maritime experience aboard, luxury cruise vessel.
The private
cruise service will connect Puri with both intra-state and inter-state
destinations. A passenger cruise terminal will be developed between Brahmagiri
and Satapada in Puri. The government aims to strengthen tourism infrastructure
and promote coastal travel. The cruise routes will include Paradip,
Visakhapatnam, Digha, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Detailed
Project Report (DPR) for the initiative has already been completed.

✨In the first phase, the project will be anchored in Puri, followed by expansion in Paradip during the second phase. The target is to complete the project within the next two to three years. Once the MoU for the cruise terminal is signed, Puri will enter a new era of tourism development.
