Puri, Jun 14: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has formally urged the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to accelerate the restoration and preservation work of the Ratna Bhandar, the temple’s sacred treasure chamber.
In a letter addressed to the Director-General of ASI, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, the temple’s Chief Administrator, emphasized the urgency of completing the remaining restoration work before the upcoming Rath Yatra festival, scheduled from June 28 to July 6.
Given the historical and religious significance of the Ratna Bhandar, the administration has requested that the restoration be treated as a top priority.
The letter also highlights the necessity of supervising the conservation efforts of the temple’s sanctum sanctorum and other key structures during the festival period.
The administration has proposed that the Deputy Director-General or Director-level officials from ASI oversee the process to ensure timely completion and adherence to heritage conservation standards.
