Bhubaneswar, Jul 31: The much-anticipated report on the tragic Sharadhabali stampede incident during the Puri Rath Yatra is expected to be submitted by Thursday evening by Development Commissioner Anu Garg to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The probe, initiated in the aftermath of the incident, has reached its final stage following the completion of all hearings by July 30.

Sources confirm that the Development Commissioner has been actively reviewing all submissions and testimonies related to the incident. Discussions with committee members have been underway to consolidate findings and finalize the report. The Chief Minister had earlier directed that the investigation be completed and the report submitted within a month of the tragedy.

The Sharadhabali stampede, which shocked the state, prompted swift action from the government, including the formation of a high-level inquiry committee. The committee was tasked with identifying lapses, recommending preventive measures, and ensuring accountability.

With the deadline for submission having passed on Wednesday, July 30, the final report is now being compiled and is expected to provide clarity on the causes of the incident, the response of local authorities, and future safeguards to prevent such occurrences. The Chief Minister is likely to review the report and take necessary action based on its recommendations.
