Puri, May 25: The holy city of Puri is gearing up for the ritualistic celebration of Debasnana Purnima, scheduled for June 11, at Shreemandir here.
On this auspicious day, the deities-Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhada- undergo a ceremonial bath with 108 pitchers of sacred water, drawn from Suna Kua (Golden Well). Following this, the sibling deities are believed to fall ill and retire to Anasara Ghara for treatment.
As per tradition, during the Anasara period, when devotees cannot get a glimpse of the Trinity, pilgrims flock to Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri, 30 km from Puri, believing that a visit to Lord Alarnath, regarded as a manifestation of Lord Vishnu, brings immense spiritual merit.
To ensure a smooth and structured darshan experience from June 12 to June 25, a review meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of the District Collector. Various measures have been discussed, including crowd management, ritual protocols, security, and essential arrangements such as drinking water supply, road repairs, uninterrupted electricity, and barricading.

✨The District Collector has engaged in discussions with the servitors to ensure that Lord Jagannath’s Anasara rituals align with a streamlined darshan experience for devotees. Similarly, all differences among the servitors at Alarnath Temple have been set aside for the greater goal of smooth and organized worship and visitation.
For security and traffic management, eight platoons of police forces, along with senior officers, will be deployed. The Puri SP has directed officials from all relevant departments to take necessary actions to facilitate seamless arrangements. A dedicated traffic plan has been devised to manage the movement of pilgrims from Puri to Brahmagiri, ensuring smooth transit and preventing congestion.
Strategic traffic control points will be established, and heavy police deployment will be ensured inside and around the temple premises. Authorities are committed to providing a well-coordinated system for devotees, ensuring their safety and security while allowing them to observe the divine rituals without disruption.
It is widely believed that during the Anasara period, when the presiding deities remain unseen at Shreemandir, a visit to Lord Alarnath brings immense spiritual fulfillment, equivalent to receiving blessings from Lord Jagannath himself. With these arrangements, Puri is all set to welcome thousands of devotees for this sacred observance.
