Puri: Patitapabana Bana & Chhauni Math Bana Seen Flying In Opposite Directions

Puri, Mar 23: Patitapabana Bana on the top of the Neela Chakra in Puri Shreemandir, which is believed the saviour of the sinful persons, has always surprised devotees across the globe with its unusual event.
It is believed that a mere sight of the flag uplifts the downtrodden – that’s how it derived its name – Patitapaban.
Puri Jagannath temple has many unexplained science, miracles and mysteries. Among them is the direction of the Patitapabana Bana atop the temple. Moreover it is one of the most fascinating mysteries.
Meanwhile, a rare incident has took place Sunday where the Patitapabana Bana and the Chhauni Math Bana fluttered in opposite directions for some time. The Patitapabana flag was seen flying southwards, while the Chhauni Math flag flew towards the north.
Sources said that the incident occurred due to gusty winds following the Kalabaisakhi.
Worth mentioning that the Patitapabana Bana is changed daily by ‘Chunara Sebakas (servitors)’ of the temple and is considered as one of the most daring rituals of Lord Jagannath. Mostly in summers the flag is changed at around 5 PM in the evening while in winters it is done a little earlier.
