Puri, May 24: In a significant move towards preserving heritage and enhancing religious infrastructure, the Odisha government has initiated the restoration of 19 Math temples which were dismantled during the Srimandir Parikrama Project.

A dedicated site in Puri city has been identified for the relocation and reconstruction of these temples, ensuring that devotees can continue their darshan and rituals without disruption. The plan includes establishing a special complex where all the relocated temples will be housed together, creating a unified spiritual space.

The Law Minister, Prithviraj Harichandan, confirmed that discussions with the Endowment Commission have taken place twice to finalize the restoration strategy. The initiative aims to uphold the religious significance of these temples while providing a modernized yet traditional space for worship.

This restoration effort is expected to preserve the cultural essence of Puri while accommodating the needs of devotees and temple authorities. The project marks a major milestone in Odisha government’s commitment to safeguarding its religious heritage.
