Puri, Aug 12: In an unfortunate incident, lightning struck Monday morning in an agricultural field near Bhuan village under Ramchandi Police Station limits killing one and injuring seven people.

According to reports, around 15 people from the village were working in the field when lightning struck. Eight people, who were close to the spot, got injured due to the lightning. 

All eight people, reportedly women, were immediately taken to Puri District Headquarter Hospital. However, one of the women -- being identified as Kunti Bhoi, 45 -- succumbed to injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. 

The rest of the women are being treated at the hospital. Family members of these eight women have urged the government for financial aid.
