Expert panels to oversee temple heritage, security, and infrastructure improvements.
Puri, May 30: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has constituted nine specialized committees to oversee various aspects of the temple’s management, security, and heritage conservation.
These committees will focus on civil, electrical, public health, mechanical, architecture, conservation, and heritage culture, ensuring the temple’s upkeep and modernization.
The initiative aims to preserve the temple’s historical significance while addressing technical challenges related to infrastructure and security.
The committees will be led by renowned experts, including Professor Dr. SK Bhattacharya, former director of IIT Kharagpur and CBRI, who will chair the technical committee.
Each committee comprises multiple specialists, with the civil engineering division alone having five members. Their responsibilities include structural assessments, electrical safety, sanitation improvements, and conservation strategies to maintain the temple’s grandeur.
The SJTA’s decision comes at a crucial time, as the temple prepares for major renovations and security enhancements. The committees will also oversee agricultural land management related to temple-owned properties, ensuring sustainable practices.
This move is expected to streamline temple administration, enhance visitor experience, and safeguard the temple’s centuries-old legacy.
