Puri, Dec 26: Dead Olive Ridley turtles were found lying on the sea coast of Baliharachandi beach in Brahmagiri area of Puri district this morning.
The forest department had issued no fishing warning during the breeding period of the turtles from November to May.
According to sources, the death of the turtles is due to the illegal trawler movements in the water.
The routine patrolling by the forest department is nothing but a farce said the locals who complained of having seen illegal trawlers.
