Puri, Apr 7: In what looks terrific, the Inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Puri district's Chandanpur police station was severely injured as miscreants hurled acid, cow dung and human excreta at him today.
The IIC, Bhubanmohan Samantaray, has been admitted to the government hospital at Chandanpur.
According to the information, the ghastly incident has occurred at Achyutapur village under the Kahneibidyadharpur area. The IIC had gone to convince a family who was opposing establishment of a mobile tower in the village. Angry at the police officer's move to apease them, the family members hurled cow dung and acid at him. As a result, the IIC received burn injuries.
