Puri, Jun 29: The Puri district administration has imposed traffic restrictions around the Alarnath Temple at Brahmagiri to manage the surge of devotees during the annual pilgrimage following Deva Snana Purnima. The curbs will remain in force from June 30 to July 13, 2026, between 6 AM and 10 PM daily, officials said on Monday.
Heavy vehicles will be barred from the routes connecting Mangala Ghat to Satapada and Khajuria to Brahmagiri Market Square during this period. The directive has been issued under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Rule 173 of the Odisha Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993.
To ensure orderly darshan, the district administration has strengthened police deployment and installed CCTV cameras at three designated parking zones. Arrangements have been made for uninterrupted power supply, temporary toilets, and drinking water facilities.
A Bhog Mandap has been set up near Lord Ganesh’s shrine to cater to external offerings, while the Health Department has opened medical centres with doctors on duty. Fire services have been placed on alert, and the Rural Water Supply department has ensured potable water availability.

According to popular belief, during the Anasara period — when darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra is barred in the Srimandir as the deities remain in the Anasarghar (sickhouse) for a fortnight after the grand bath on Snana Purnima — Lord Jagannath manifests at Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri.
Devotees throng the shrine in this fortnight, considering it a spiritual substitute for the darshan of the Holy Trinity during the Anasara period.
