Puri, Sep 9: The Shree Jagannath Temple administration in Puri temporarily suspended public darshan for one hour today following the sacred Maha Snana ritual.

The temple administration announced the suspension after saliva was spotted near the inner sanctum’s wooden structures.

The Maha Snana, a significant ceremonial bath of the deities, commenced early this morning as part of the temple’s traditional observances. This ritual is performed to cleanse and sanctify the idols and temple premises, especially when any impurity or damage is detected.

Devotees were informed in advance by the temple authorities, and darshan was halted briefly to ensure the sanctity of the ritual. The administration emphasised that such temporary suspensions are part of maintaining the spiritual and structural integrity of the centuries-old shrine.

The temple will resume normal operations after the completion of the Maha Snana, allowing devotees to continue their worship and partake in the day’s remaining rituals.
