Project Aarogya: Vedanta’s CSR Initiative Delivers Medical Aid In Kalahandi

Key Points

Mega Health Camp served 400 villagers across 13 villages in Kalahandi.

Project Aarogya reached over 60,000 people annually with mobile health services and awareness drives.

Bhawanipatna, Sept 1: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, continues to make strides in rural healthcare through its flagship CSR initiative, Project Aarogya. As part of its monthly outreach, the company recently organized a Mega Health Camp in Kankutru Gram Panchayat, covering 13 villages in the Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi district.

The camp provided free medical consultations, diagnostics, and medicines to nearly 400 beneficiaries, bringing essential healthcare directly to underserved communities. A team of dedicated health professionals conducted general check-ups, distributed medicines, and raised awareness about preventive care and early diagnosis—critical components in improving long-term health outcomes.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO of Vedanta’s Alumina Business, emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare: “Healthcare is a fundamental right, yet access remains a challenge for many rural communities. Through Project Aarogya, we serve over 60,000 people annually in Kalahandi. These camps reflect our belief that community well-being is the foundation of sustainable growth.”

Project Aarogya has become a cornerstone of Vedanta Lanjigarh’s social impact strategy. In FY2025 alone, the initiative facilitated over 660 Mobile Health Unit (MHU) visits, reaching more than 20,500 individuals in remote villages. Additionally, over 680 community awareness sessions were held, educating 15,000+ people on hygiene, wellness, and disease prevention.

The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 — Good Health and Well-being — and reinforces Vedanta’s commitment to inclusive development in Odisha’s tribal heartland. By ensuring last-mile healthcare access, Vedanta Lanjigarh continues to strengthen its role as a responsible development partner.
