Preventing Crocodile Attacks: Odisha Forest Dept To Identify Black Spots

Key Points
As part of a comprehensive masterplan, the department will identify black spots—locations with frequent crocodile activity.
In addition, signboards will also be installed with warning signs.
Districts such as Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur reports the highest number of incidents with a higher density of such black spots, prompting authorities to prioritise them in the plan.
The move comes as increased water levels due to seasonal flooding have driven crocodiles closer to human settlements, raising threats to life and livestock.
