Bhubaneswar, Apr 14: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday extended warm greetings on the occasion of Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti, which marks the Odia New Year, highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of the festival.

President Greets Nation On Multiple Festivals
Droupadi Murmu took to social media platform X to extend greetings on various regional festivals coinciding with the day.
“On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, Vishu, Vishuv, Bohag Bihu, Poila Baisakh, Mesadi, Vaishakhaadi, and Puthandu, I extend my greetings and best wishes to all my fellow citizens residing in India and abroad,” she wrote.

PM Highlights Tradition, Harmony & Renewal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the occasion as a reflection of devotion, harmony and seasonal renewal, deeply rooted in Odisha’s traditions.

He emphasised that the festival marks not just the beginning of a new year but also a time to strengthen social bonds and promote collective well-being.
The Prime Minister wished for peace, happiness and prosperity, noting that such festivals play a key role in fostering unity and togetherness.

Amit Shah Invokes Blessings Of Lord Jagannath
Home Minister Amit Shah extended greetings on X, wishing prosperity and well-being for the people of Odisha.
“Heartiest greetings to our sisters and brothers of Odisha on the auspicious occasion of Maha Vishuba Sankranti. May the blessings of Prabhu Jagannath bring happiness and good health for everyone,” he said.

Festival Marks Odia New Year
Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti, also known as Pana Sankranti, marks the Odia New Year and is celebrated across Odisha with traditional rituals.
