Rourkela, Apr 21: President Droupadi Murmu, on her day-long visit to Sundargarh and Rourkela, inaugurated four major development projects worth nearly ₹158 crore, while once again winning hearts with her simplicity and warmth.
Arriving at Jharsuguda airport at 10:20 am, she was received by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
From there, she proceeded to Rourkela Sector-13 to attend the Adi Parab 2026 celebrations. A grand welcome awaited her, with around 2,500 students performing Santali, Karma, Sambalpuri, and Odissi dances alongside patriotic songs.

The President interacted with performers and students, shaking hands, posing for photographs, and visiting stalls set up by women self-help groups showcasing local products and delicacies. She also posed with SHG members, highlighting her support for grassroots entrepreneurship.

✨At 12:25 pm, she addressed a large public gathering and formally dedicated four projects to the people of Sundargarh and Rourkela:
- Integrated Command and Control Centre worth ₹48 crore
- Rourkela Tribal Museum built at a cost of ₹40 crore
- Nirmal Munda Parivesh Path worth ₹42.44 crore
- Planetarium and Science Centre costing ₹27 crore
These projects are expected to boost infrastructure, cultural preservation, and scientific learning in the region. The event was attended by the Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, and local legislators.
True to her reputation for humility, President Murmu broke protocol during her journey to the Tribal Museum inauguration. At Hanuman Batika Square, she stepped out of her car to greet people waiting in the scorching 44°C heat, walking among them and distributing chocolates to children.
Her gestures of warmth and accessibility once again
reinforced her image as a leader deeply connected to ordinary citizens.
