Bhubaneswar, Jun 2: Odisha is preparing for a historic occasion as both President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to visit Mayurbhanj district in the third week of June.

Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia confirmed that the Prime Minister will travel to President Murmu’s native village, Pahadpur, under Rairangpur, during his two‑day tour on June 19 and 20.

According to Minister Khuntia, the Prime Minister’s programme includes laying the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Forest Management at Sulidum in Kusumi block. He expressed confidence that the visit would accelerate development in Mayurbhanj district.

Mayurbhanj MP Naba Charan Majhi stated that President Murmu will arrive in Rairangpur on June 19 and visit her ancestral village Pahadpur. On June 20, Prime Minister Modi is expected to join her in Rairangpur, with Rashtrapati Bhavan officially confirming the schedule.

During their visit, both dignitaries are likely to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several projects and address public gatherings. After completing his engagements in Rairangpur, the Prime Minister is expected to travel to Bhubaneswar.

The timing of the visit is significant as it coincides with the completion of two years of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s government on June 12.

Recently, the Chief Minister met Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi and extended a formal invitation for him to visit Odisha. Preparations are already underway across Mayurbhanj to welcome the President and Prime Minister.

For the people of Rairangpur and Pahadpur, the occasion will be particularly memorable as it marks the President’s return to her roots, accompanied by the Prime Minister.
