Bhubaneswar, Jan 10: President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar today. During the event, 27 people will be honoured with the 'Pravasi Bharatiya Samman' award.

At the outset of the proramme, the plenary session, to be chaired by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, will discuss "Pravasi Bharatiya Samlap: Sansruti, Sanjog T Samparkara Kaahani (Pravasi Bharatiya Dialogues: Stories of Culture, Connectivity, and Relationship."

The President will spend about five hours at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention before leaving for New Delhi.

After attending the golden jubilee celebrations of the Indian Institute of Agricultural Research campus in Meghalaya yesterday, the president arrived in Bhubaneswar by a special Air Force flight from Guwahati airport. The President was given a rousing reception with traditional and cultural songs, dance, and music.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention. The Prime Minister highlighted Odisha's heritage, culture and tradition. He urged the diaspora to promote 'Bharatiyata' worldwide.
