Nayagarh, Mar 24: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday offered prayers to Lord Nilamadhab, perceived as an earlier form of Lord Jagannath, at the Kantilo Nilamadhab Temple in Nayagarh district today.

Odisha Governor Dr Kambhamapati Hari Babu, Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi accompanied her to the historic temple.

After offering prayers, the President attended the Biswabasu Visvashanti Maha Yajna at Kaliapalli. She also presented clothes to priests belonging to the Shabar clan. Addressing a public meeting, Murmu assured all steps for Nilamadhab Temple's development.

People were happy with the presence of the President among them. The Nilamadhav Temple Priests Association presented a specially wooven shawl and an oil painting of Lord Neelamadhav to the President.
