Koraput, July 28: In a tragic mishap, a pregnant woman and her six-year-old daughter are suspected to have been washed away in a river in Odisha's Koraput district last evening. 

According to the information, the woman, having an eight-month pregnancy, and her minor daughter were staying in 'Maa Gruha'. They had gone to the nearby Jhanjabati River for cleansing but didn't return. They are suspected to have washed away in the river water.    

The woman was identified as Mati Taading, wife of Rama Taading of Dokarighati village under Narayanpatna police station limits. 

It is suspected that the daughter first entered the water to cleanse herself but slipped into deep water. Her mother tried to save her but she also went missing. 

On being informed, fire and police personnel rushed to the spot and started a search operation. While the pregnant woman was rescued, the daughter is still missing. 

Locals have blamed the local administration for the mishap.
