Balasore, Feb 13: In a tragic incident, a tourist bus met with an accident near Mahani, a village on the Bihar-Uttar Pradesh border, Wednesday night.
As per the report, 35 tourists sustained injuries in the tragic incident, which took place at around 12.50 am. Among the injured, conditions of three persons are reported to be critical.
The three critically injured persons have been identified as Subash Behera from Kumar Sarisa village in Bhogarai block, Bapi Sasmal (35) from Phulbani and Rajakishore Sahu (50) from Naguan village.
The bus had started its journey from Balasore and it was heading to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh.
A passenger, giving details about the accident, said that the driver fell asleep while driving which led to the accident as the bus crashed into a dumper truck from behind. After the accident, the bus driver fled from the scene, leaving the passengers stranded at the spot, and is now absconding.
The Bhogarai residents have appealed to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena and the Balasore District Magistrate to rescue all the pilgrims on an emergency basis, to provide high-quality medical treatment to them and bring them back home.
