Balasore, July 18: In a heartbreaking incident, a tribal man from Bindhani Sahi in Deula Panchayat, Balasore district, carried the dead body of his daughter on a trolley rickshaw to a local hospital after being unable to afford ambulance charges.
According to reports, Nandini Bindhani, daughter of Madhu Bindhani, allegedly died by suicide on July 17. Following this, the body was seized and sent to the nearby Community Health Centre for post-mortem. Later, the body was handed over to the family members.
However, due to financial constraints, the bereaved father borrowed a trolley from a fellow villager to transport the body to the Baliapal Group Health Centre and reached his hous—covering nearly six kilometers—after being unable to afford ambulance charges.
The images of the incident have since gone viral on social media, prompting public outrage and raising questions about systemic support for vulnerable communities.
As of now, authorities are yet to issue a formal response regarding the incident.
