Birmaharajpur, Aug 5: A dramatic theft unfolded near the Cinema Hall Road under Birmaharajpur police limits, where a woman posing as a customer was caught stealing silver ornaments from a local jewellery shop.
The accused has been identified as Basanti Nayak (55), a resident of Taraga village under Bansjor P.S. in Jharkhand.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when the woman entered the shop and asked for silver anklets and bracelets. The shopkeeper handed her a box containing various silver items and allowed her to browse.
Taking advantage of the crowd inside the store, the woman discreetly selected one anklet and one bracelet, paid for them, and then allegedly stole several more items from the box before fleeing.

Soon the shopkeeper launched a frantic search and managed to locate the woman. Later, the shop owner informed the police, who then reached the spot and took the woman into custody.
