Kuchinda, May 26: A polling staff bus met with an accident late Saturday night on an NH 53 ghat road while returning with EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) after voting.

The bus hits a truck from behind on Badarama ghat under Jamankira police station in Sambalpur district at around 11 pm. Five out of 18 polling staff were injured, including two suffering serious injuries. The seriously injured persons have been taken to Burla.

Jamankira police recovered the EVMs and VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) as well as some other voting things before sending them to the disbursal centre in Kuchinda College. The bus was carrying the voting staff from booth 258, 259 and 260.
