Puri, Sep 10: In a shocking incident on Wednesday morning, a youth attempted to forcibly enter the sacred premises of the Jagannath Temple in Puri, prompting swift action from temple security and police personnel.
According to eyewitness accounts, the youth arrived near the temple’s Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) and parked his motorcycle outside the barricade. Moments later, he grabbed the barricade and tried to climb over it, reportedly striking the Arun Stambha (pillar) in the process. His actions caused alarm among devotees and temple staff present at the site.
Before the temple gates officially opened, the youth made a determined attempt to enter the sanctum while wearing footwear — an act strictly prohibited within the temple premises. The Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) and local police quickly intervened and detained him after a brief argument.
