Balasore, May 23: The key accused involved in the recent firing and loot incident in Dayanidhipur village under Soro police limits in Balasore district has been apprehended, informed a senior police official on Friday.
According to police report, the accused, identified as Manoranjan Pani alias Bapi, along with his associates stormed into the house of one Manjulata Nayak on May 21/22 night, looting valuables and cash. In the chaos, the criminals opened fire, injuring two individuals.
Later, on being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.
Taking note of the reports, a special team was constituted. A breakthrough in the investigation came when a police personnel sketched a suspect’s face, leading to crucial leads.
However, the team managed to nab of the key accused within 24 hours
Reportedly, the accused, previously involved in several cases, was apprehended from Bhadrak district following a detailed investigation and manhunt.
During the arrest, police recovered two country-made pistols, 20 live bullets, and stolen gold jewellery.
Authorities are now working to apprehend other members of the gang involved in the crime.
The incident has raised concerns over rising criminal activities in the region, prompting law enforcement to intensify security measures. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities.
