PMAY Beneficiaries To Get Rs 1.80L; Toilet Aid Increased To Rs 20K: Minister

Good news for new PMAY beneficiaries. They will now get an increased amount of Rs 1.80 lakh instead of the earlier 1.20 lakh for constructing a house under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana. 

Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: Good news for new PMAY beneficiaries. They will now get an increased amount of Rs 1.80 lakh instead of the earlier 1.20 lakh for constructing a house under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana. 

Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water and Rural Development Minister Rabi Naik informed about the Centre's plan to increase the PMAY amount.  

"Guidelines are being prepared to increase PMAY support from Rs 1.20 lakh to Rs 1.80 lakh per house. When the MGNREGA fund is added, the amount will be about Rs 2 lakh," said the Minister. 

The Minister said the State government has planned to construct each PMAY house as a model residence with all basic facilities like water and power connectivities and toilet attachment.

He also stated that the fund for toilets under the Swachha Bharat programme would be increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000.

The government's decision to increase PMAY and Toilet money has been appreciated by beneficiaries and intellectuals. 

"With PMAY money increased to Rs 1.80 lakh, good houses can now be constructed. Facilites like water and power connectivities and toilet attachment can be available in the PMAY houses. It is good decision of the Government," said beneficiaries.
