Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 117th Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, lauded the efforts of Golamunda farmers of Kalahandi district that promoted vegetable farming and provided a livelihood-earning source to many families.
The Prime Minister termed the successful efforts Farmers Producers Organisation (FPO) as ' Sajbi Kranti" (Green Revolution).
''Farmers of Kolahandi district's Golamunda have succeeded in making vegetable farming a good livelihood-earning source. People of the region were once opting to move outside to work. However, an FPO comprising 10 farmers initiated efforts to do farming with modern technology. Now, 200 farmers, including 45 women, are successfully taking up farming and earning good money. They have been an example for others in the country," said the Prime Minister.

✨The Prime Minister said farmers are now undertaking tomato cultivation on 200 acres of land and bitter gourd on 150 acres of land.
"Farmers of Golamunda are exporting vegetables and earning about Rs 1.5 crore annually. This has strengthened the region's economy," said the Prime Minister.
