Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to
visit Jharsuguda in Odisha on September 27, informed the Chief Minister’s
Office (CMO) here on Tuesday.
According to the CMO, Prime Minister Modi will address a public gathering in
Jharsuguda and is expected to launch several developmental projects during a
day-long visit to the state. However, the final details of the programme are
yet to be confirmed.
Venue Shifted Amid Weather Alert
Originally scheduled to address a public rally at Berhampur in Ganjam district, the venue has now been shifted to Jharsuguda due to possible adverse weather conditions predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has predicted a fresh low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, likely to intensify into a depression and impact coastal districts including Ganjam. In response, the Odisha government proposed relocating the Prime Minister’s rally from Berhampur to Jharsuguda, a move that has since been approved.

BJP’s ‘Seva Paksha’ Outreach
Sources in the BJP said that the PM’s visit is part of the BJP’s ongoing ‘Seva Paksha’, a two-week-long public outreach initiative running from September 17 to October 2. The campaign commemorates PM Modi’s birthday on September 17 and concludes on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
This will be PM Modi’s sixth visit to the state since the 2024 general elections. His last visit to Odisha was on June 20, when he celebrated the one-year anniversary of the BJP-led state government under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. On that occasion, he addressed a massive rally at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.
