Berhampur, Nov 5: In a significant development in the murder investigation of senior advocate and BJP leader Pitabash Panda, Odisha Police recreated the crime scene here on Wednesday to verify the sequence of events. The move is part of a broader effort to strengthen the case through forensic corroboration, police said.
Panda, who was also a member of the Odisha State Bar Council, was shot dead near his residence in Berhampur on October 6 while returning home on his scooter. He was immediately taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
As part of the ongoing probe, the police have secured a two-day remand of four more accused. Among them are alleged shooters Kurupati Bhuyan and Chintu Pradhan, who were brought to the crime scene for the reconstruction exercise.

The crime scene recreation was conducted under tight security and in the presence of forensic experts and senior police officials. Investigators believe this step will help establish the timeline of the attack and validate witness testimonies.
So far, 15 people including former Berhampur MLA Bikram Kumar Panda and ex-Mayor Sivshankar Das have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Pitabash Panda.
