Nayagarh, Jan 10: In a tragic mishap, a person was killed and over 30 people sustained critical injuries as a bus. in which they were travelling, skidded off and overturned 15-ft off the road at Ranapur Khandisi Chhak in Nayagarh district early this morning.

According to the information, the ill-fated private bus, carrying about 45 people from Gunthuni village, was on its way to Balugaon when the driver lost control of its wheels, leading to the mishap at around midnight.

The villagers were out on a Kalijai tour.

Locals rescued the passengers from the bus. Later, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Ranapur Community Health Centre and Chandpur Medical.

Sources added that some of the injured persons have been shifted to Bhubaneswar given their critical condition. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
