Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: Police today seized Mahindra Thar involved in the accident that claimed the life of an 8-year-old girl, Reshma Raul. The incident occurred near Patrapada Chhak when the victim along with her mother and brother was returning home after Raksha Bandhan celebrations.

According to reports, the family was crossing the road when the Thar rammed them. While the girl died on the spot, the injured mother and son were rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for treatment.

Following the incident, Khandagiri Police launched an investigation and successfully seized the vehicle from Jatani area. The owner of the vehicle is reportedly absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused.

The accident has sparked outrage among locals, who staged a protest on the National Highway demanding justice and stricter enforcement against reckless driving.

Police have assured a thorough probe and promised to bring the culprit to justice.
