Rayagada, Mar 27: A passenger bus carrying over 40 people overturned near Mukundapur Ghat in Kolnara region in Rayagada district Thursday morning.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the bus named 'Ma Bangarama' was enroute from Brahmapur's Hinjilicut to Tikiri in Rayagada. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels and overturned near Mukundapur Ghat, resulting in injuries to all onboard.

As many as 23 passengers sustained minor injuries while three others are stated to be in critical condition. Residents rushed to the scene to assist the victims and alerted the local police.

On being informed, emergency services arrived at the site and rushed the injured persons to district headquarter hospital for treatment.

Reportedly, police have registered a case and are currently investigating the cause of the mishap.
