Paradip, Mar 7: As many as seven fishing boats were burnt to ashes as a massive fire broke out at the Paradip Fishing Port in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district late on Thursday night.

Even though the blaze has been controlled, smoke still pervades the area.

In the incident, six other boats were also partially damaged.

According to the information, a team of firefighters, after being informed, rushed to the spot and doused the fire after a few hours' efforts. No casualties or injuries have been reported.

The boats named Pita Mata Ashirbad, Balunkeswar, Laxmikrupa, Om Maa Tarini Shakti, Chakadola, and Sanjeevani were destroyed in the fire. While 12 fire tenders were deployed to douse the fire, five are still in operation.

The exact cause of the spread of fire was not ascertained.
