Bhubaneswar, July 24: Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 4 PM without transacting any business on Wednesday due to ruckus by the opposition BJD and the Congress.
The House witnessed ruckus for the third consecutive day of the opening session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly.
As soon as the House commenced at 10.30 AM to take up the question hours , BJD MLAs staged a walkout over 'lack of police action' against the Odisha Governor's son for allegedly assaulting a government official.
On the other hand, Congress MLAs created ruckus alleging neglect of Odisha in the Union Budget 2024, presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament yesterday.
Congress members trooped into the well of the House, raising slogans on "Odisha Asmita" (Odisha Pride).
Speaker Surama Padhy appealed to the opposition members to sit on their respective seats and participate in the proceedings of the House.

✨As the chaos continued, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings first till 11.30 AM and then till12 noon.
Later, the Speaker called an all-party meeting to resolve the impasse between the treasury and the opposition members.
When the House reassembled after the adjournment at 12 noon, the BJD and Congress members again rushed to the well and raised slogans in support of their demand.
The Speaker tried to pacify the Opposition members but they continued their slogan shouting inside the well. Finding no other options, the Speaker adjourned the House till 4 PM today.
