According to the source, the vessel had arrived at Paradip on August 20 and departed for Singapore carrying iron ore. It reportedly sank around 200 nautical miles from Paradip.
Most of the 24 crew members on board are believed to be Chinese nationals, according to the source.
The Indian Coast Guard has launched a rescue operation following the incident.
