Bhubaneswar, Jul 21: Pradeep Bal Samanta, Odisha’s Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Cooperation, Handloom and Textiles, announced the commencement of a farmer registration campaign for the upcoming paddy procurement cycle.
Farmers can register till August 20, while verification of their details will be completed by September 9. A list of eligible farmers will be published by September 30, ensuring streamlined procurement and fair access to benefits.
The initiative comes in response to increased interest among cultivators after the state government pledged to procure paddy at ₹3,100 per quintal. According to Minister Samanta, this hike in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) has sparked enthusiasm in farming communities, prompting expectations of higher registration numbers this year.
