Jagatsinghpur, Sep 1: A 58-year-old woman from Brahmanakhand village in Jagatsinghpur district tragically lost her life, reportedly due to the absence of oxygen support in a private ambulance, during her emergency transfer to Cuttack.
The deceased, identified as Kamala Panda, wife of advocate Pitambar Panda, was suffering from severe chest pain and was initially admitted to Jagatsinghpur Medical.
Due to her deteriorating condition, she was referred to a higher medical facility in Cuttack. She was being transported in a private ambulance (OD33 R 3130, Maa Kutamchandi) when the incident occurred near Gopalsagar in Jagatsinghpur town. Allegedly, the ambulance lacked a functioning oxygen supply, which proved fatal during the journey.

Eyewitnesses and locals reported that Kamala Panda’s condition worsened rapidly, and the absence of oxygen support led to her untimely death. The incident sparked outrage among bystanders and family members, who vandalized the ambulance in protest and later lodged a formal complaint at the Jagatsinghpur police station.
